III/4/4P/4D)
Tandy's first hi-res board was for
the Model II computer(cat. no. 26-4104), which was quickly followed by the
Model III hi-res board (cat. no. 26-1125).
Finally when the Model 4 was released a hi-res board was available (cat.
no. 26-1126). All these hi-res boards
were very expensive and sold in small numbers and had little software support
from Radio Shack. µLabs produced a
compatible, but less expensive Model 4 hi-res board called the Grafyx Solution along with a catalogue of software. All these boards featured 640x240 (153,600
pixels) resolution and special BASIC language upgrade which included commands
like LINE, CIRCLE, PAINT, and VIEWPORT.
By the mid-1980s a reasonable number
of interesting and sophisticated software packages had been released for the
Model III/4 hi-res boards. This page
aims to have these software packages available for download, and a place to buy
the necessary hardware - some in kit form, some fully assembled - to upgrade
your Model III, 4, 4P or 4D for hi-res graphics.

This is my new hi-res graphics (HRG) board based on the old
µLabs GX 4.2 board which has been unavailable since the late 1980s. This one utilises an updated design with
fewer chips, smaller footprint, while still having a 25% performance increase
over Tandy's HRG and compatible with all software for both the GX 4.2, 5.1, and
Tandy's HRG.
This great device works in all Model 4s and 4Ps and : the
original non-gate array M4 and 4P, the gate-array M4 and 4P, and the 4D. For a

MagicDraw - 128K Model 4 with LS-DOS 6.3.1
MagicDraw requires a 128K Model 4 or 4P with LS-DOS 6.3.1, a 3-button serial mouse
and relevant adapters to connect to the Model 4 or 4P serial port. If your early Model 4 non-gate array has no
serial board then you need to add one as well.
Also there is a 2nd disk of fonts, don't forget to download that one
too!

Once downloaded, copy the file to
your TRS-80 emulator or real machine and then run "GLOAD IMAGE/BIN".
GLOAD comes with the TRS-80 Computer
Graphics software packages. You will
have to run GRON and GROFF to toggle the hi-res video.
