NEW STUFF FOR TRS-80 COMPUTERS:

(Adapters, Cables, Power Supplies, CRTs)

In my never ending quest to keep people's TRS-80s up and running I try to find solutions and replacement parts for machines.  Below is a list of items which are new, or in the case of cables, made up from new components, to keep Tandy computers alive and kicking.

They come with a 90 day or more warranty, just like Tandy used to offer, and friendly after-sales assistance should something go wrong after the 90 days is up.

U72 GAL (PAL-compatible) chip for M4 128K upgrade

A PAL chip is needed to upgrade Model 4 Non-Gate Array computers up to 128K.  These have been unavailable for years and without it you can't upgrade to 128K.  Thanks to Dean Bear and Andrew Quinn, I can offer these compatible chips burned into a GAL for $FREE (limit one per person).  You only pay the shipping cost!

u72gal.JPG

Why free?  Some years ago a report in CN80 stated that burning U72 onto a GAL instead of a PAL produced unpredictable results, however Dean, Andrew and myself have been using GAL versions for years with no problems.  So the jury is still out ... but if you want to try one yourself, it costs you nothing!

Model 1 Hard Drive Adapter

This great little device connects a TRS-80 primary hard drive (an in future the FreHD emulator) to your TRS-80 Model 1 computer!  Unavailable since 1983, Tandy used to make a small adapter to connect a hard drive to the Model 1.  Extremely rare these days and when they do come on the market, grossly overpriced, I decided to get some made up which I will now sell for only $A50ea.  Comes with a small cable to connect to the Expansion Interface, and I will email you drivers which will work with your TRS-80 primary hard drive.  If you need the hard drive cable, see below, but if you are using your primary drive on a Model III/4/4P or 4D then you can use that cable - it plugs straight into the adapter.

Power Supply for TRS-80 Model I - $145

Just what you need if your Black US 120V or White Aus 240V power supplies have worn out or just plain gone missing.  This is a new design by D.Bear utilising compact toroid transformers resulting in a power supply small enough to fit in the Expansion Interface, but with enough grunt to power a fully expanded Model I system, and even then with plenty of power in reserve.  Only takes up one power socket too!  These are custom made to order, depending on which country you need it for, so contact me for price and shipping details.  $145 + postage and comes with 1 year warranty.

May sell in parts for CKD form for those capable of assembling their own unit - email me first.

NEW 12VCMP31 green screen CRT for Model I/III/4

Is your CRT in your Model III or 4 TRS-80 worn out? Is it full of screen burn or did you break it when you opened your machine and don't know where to source a new one? Or are you sick of the regular B&W television-grade tube in your TRS-80 Model 1, III or US M4?

Just arrived from the USA, I have currently on hand NOS P31 green screen CRTs which are easy to install, see my video HERE.

They work great in a Model III or 4, and work reasonably well in a Model 1 (this is due mainly to the very archaic video circuitry in the Model 1 monitor).

If you are in Melbourne I can even install them for a flat fee of $45 while you wait...

$150ea with 90 days warranty.
